http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1208774 - this has some general and advanced lighting theories ( although its in the SFM section its not related to SFM) MaxofS2d had (keyword HAD) a good amount of tutorials on lights in gmod. but since the SFM switch they've disappeared. and as far as I've experienced stuff in gmod these are what i've found to work in the past: - use lamps over lights - If things are too bright first thing to do is type mat_bloomscale 0 in console it should make things look less intense - Three point lighting is a good place to start - remember that color can set the mood.

I'm having a hard time getting the lighting in my poses right. The maps I use seem to be too bright and adding lights just makes the picture uglier somehow. And I get these black lines on the ragdolls as I put light in. I'm not asking for tutorials, just little tips to help me get better results.

Oops, did I say lights? I meant lamps... I get the two mixed up sometimes due to the Finnish translations. I never use lights, just lamps. Anyway, thanks for the other stuff mate.
