Question about exporting ME3 Femshep into modeling program.

I've been trying and trying again getting Femshep (ME3) exported in to 3DS (my main program I use) even tried to get her hair and textures but that too isn't working like it should. :( I've been using Umodel and recently tried ME3 Explorer to see if I can get it that way, but for the life of me that is getting me no where fast... is there any direction i can take and use so i can successfully export Femshep and be on my way? :D I do apologize if this is in the wrong area or not titled right, just getting frustrated as there's something I been wanting to do and I finally am able to do it despite this problem... Thank You, JunkoXan (semi-Newcomer to Digi)

Could you be more specific as to what isn't working? I've extracted models from Mass Effect many times, and it worked fine.

i do apologize for not being specific as i should have been, i tried getting her body textures and hair textures (Diff,Spec and Normal) and they always ended up being in a 128x128 size which is far less resolution than the original used. don't know what I'm doing wrong, it's confusing me cause I've done Liara the same way and she came out just fine. Femshep is the only one that I'm having major problems with. as for her hair i tried getting her Hair Mesh exported but that ends up with messed up UVM's and parts missing.

Ah, I ran into that a couple of times too. Re-extracting the package containing the textures with a bunch of different command flags usually did the trick for me, but as for a solid fix, I wouldn't know.

My UVM's sometimes mess up as well and when they do, the materials get named similar to "material_0" or "material_1". I think this happens when the importer can't find the shader material on import. Usually this can be fixed by making sure the "Path to materials" is pointed to your extraction folder or manually adjusting the UVs.

what program is used to do all that? a solid fix would be nice but isn't possible as many variable's are there that are different person to person. i know the path to materials, but that works only when it wants to work. :D as for manually adjusting, i could use some practice on that one...

I take it you know how to use Umodel, seeing as you've already extracted several models from it. If you're using a Umodel GUI, get rid of it and use the command line. You will thank me when you get the hang of it. Because it's a command line application you should know that you can append different "flags" or options to the command you use to export a model. For instance, the -all flag extracts content not just from the package you put into Umodel, but also files from any other packages that are referenced in it. Play around with those. Try different options when exporting. Eventually some combination will work.

thanks, i suppose that not using the GUI could be the problem i been having. was that google necessary. :P Update: i was able to successfully get Femshep exported, now all i need to do is figure out how to get her skin from pale to it's actual color as well get her eye's the right color.
