Are they okay with this?

I have what may be a kind of stupid question. Not long ago I posted a couple of Mass Effect fanfics on this site. I enjoyed doing them and I've got a few more planned. However I got to thinking. Is Bioware/EA okay with fanfics? I know some people aren't. I put a disclaimer at the start of my stories explaining that Bioware/EA owns ME and its character and they are just fanfics. However I'm not sure if I want to continue writing if it could get me into trouble one day. I really don't want that nightmare. Please forgive me if this is a stupid question. I just get really paranoid about some things. If it could get me into trouble, read the stories fast because I may try to delete them, assuming I can. Thanks in advance for any responses.

Even if they did take issue, there's nothing they can do about it. Fan works are always legal, regaurdless of their nature, unless you start making a lot of money off of it. Hell, if "Agony in Pink" didn't stir up legal trouble, then you're perfectly safe. *also, in case you were wondering, "Agony in Pink" is an infamous Power Rangers fanfic depicting the pink ranger being brutally tortured and etc. If something that intense and controversial didn't cause even a peep from the show's creators, it's safe to assume normal smut fanfics are fine.

Thank you giantkrill. I enjoyed writing those first two and I was kind of looking forward to writing and sharing the rest. However people and corporations these days seem to be increasingly petty and vindictive so it is really hard to tell what will set them off or what they'll let slide. I've heard that writers like JK Rowling approve of fanfics but plenty of others do not. Please read and comment on my stories if anyone gets the chance! I've got five more short stories planned and it would help me to improve my writing skills if people let me know my previous ones are good, decent or garbage. Enjoy!

I can take a joke but please don't mess with me like that about this. I'm serious. I enjoy writing but this stuff really does spook me.

EA/Bioware is absolutely fine with fan-fiction. I'm pretty sure they've made a statement about it before. They've even organised fan fiction contests.

Thank you. That does put my mind at ease. In that case I'll keep writing and posting here for as long as I have ideas and people seem to like them. Please read, comment and above all enjoy them!

No need to worry, thanks to fair use law 17 U.S.C § 107. Also, if you're still concerned about this, ( even you shouldn't ) you can flag any of your fics as "parody" and make a custom tailored disclaimer where you emphasize it. Although, i'd just mention the fair use if i was you and IF i'd really had to point it out.

Thanks again to people who have replied. I've got another somewhat related question, if I may. I'm chugging away with the other ME stories when I have time. However I was playing Skyrim and I got an idea for a new fanfic based in that game. I'm assuming Bethesda is OK with fanfics. However this fanfic is inspired by a player-made mod, one that lets you become High King of Skyrim. And I may use elements introduced by other mods. Do you think the mod makers would be OK with this?
